Task Force Updates
Secondhand Smoke Task Force
The Secondhand Smoke task force is currently working to increase the amount of apartment owners who designate their buildings as smoke free, and to limit secondhand smoke exposure among pregnant women and children.
Cessation Task Force
The Cessation task force focuses on identifying cessation needs and increasing the availability of services in Spokane County. The group currently consists of members from many agencies, including: Community Health Education and Resources (CHER), American Lung Association (ALA), and Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD).
The Youth Access & Prevention Task Force
This task force focuses on reducing youth access to tobacco through retailer education, compliance checks and a social source campaign. This group currently consists of members from various agencies and businesses which include: Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council (GSSAC), Washington State Liquor Control Board, Spokane County Sheriff Dept., Educational Service District 101, Safeway, Yoke's, and Spokane Public School District #81.
The Policy Task Force
The Policy task force educates local political candidates and the public about tobacco policies and court decisions.
